What To Know About Australian Labradoodle Puppies

By Marissa Velazquez

Australian Labradoodle puppies are derived from a crossbreed between either a Labrador and a standard Toy Poodle, or a Labrador and a Miniature. The first puppies of this breed were first bred in Australia by Wally Conron. Conron was a major dog breeder at that time who always wanted to come up with a breed that would be gentle, trainable, and have a low-shedding coat. The breeder wanted these qualities because they would serve people with allergies against dander and fur.

All the attributes he wanted were available in Labrador and Poodle. The Labrador is highly trainable and gentle while poodle has a low-shedding fur coat. The first breeding project was done in 1955 and resulted in the name Labradoodle. The name however stayed less popular till 1988 when the breed began gaining use as allergen-free guide pet.

The crossbreeding experiment resulted in a litter of puppies with one called Sultan. Sultan possessed all the qualities Wally was searching for. He was very intelligent with a strong personality that permitted him to serve as an efficient guide dog. Sultan was sent to work as a guide dog in Hawaii and was successful. After such great success, other breeders noticed the advantages of the experiment Wally had performed and they began breeding Labradors and Poodles.

When trained perfectly, Labradoodle puppies have several attractive qualities that let them to be employed on a number of jobs. First, they make great pets for a family. They accept everybody within the family as best allies and are not violent. They are jovial animals and show their joy by jumping and playing around when happy. They show a lot of devotion to family members they live with.

Different puppies from the same litter may have different qualities. Some might be aggressive and might show this by beating their siblings whereas others may prefer isolation and always hide from people. When picking a puppy, one must avoid the aggressive and loner types because the character may only strengthen as they grow up. The best choice to go for is an average puppy that gets fun in socializing with its siblings and people.

An average puppy will always be jovial permitting people to carry it. Usually it runs to humans and finds it easy to form a bond with them. Temperaments will however at times depend on factors such as coaching and training, heredity, and socialization. Temperaments of parents have a great influence on the behavior of puppies that arise. At times it is good to visit the relatives and parents of the puppy one decides to purchase because how they behave might tell something about the puppy.

Medical clearance is of great importance too on any dog. The parents of the offspring should be checked to ensure that they have all the necessary health clearances. Diseases that one should check out to ensure there is a health clearance include epilepsy, elbow dysplasia, hip dysplasia, diabetes mellitus, allergies, eye and ear infections, and hypothyroidism.

Australian Labradoodle puppies may be bought from any breeder anywhere. They are simple to train and do not need much care to survive. They are a nice breed to consider as guide, therapy, and family dogs.
